Tim Anderson: Hit by Yasmani Grandal in heated altercation with teammate prior to suspension following Guardians brawl

White Sox Star Tim Anderson Allegedly Slapped by Teammate Yasmani Grandal in Pre-Brawl Confrontation

According to reports, there was a heated confrontation between Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson and his teammate Yasmani Grandal less than a month before Anderson’s suspension for his involvement in a brawl with the Cleveland Guardians.

Anderson, who received a temporary ban for his role in last weekend’s mid-game fight, initially squared up to Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez after the Guardians shortstop’s run to second base.

An executive producer for the Parkins & Spiegel show on WSCR in Chicago, Shane Riordan, revealed that Anderson and Grandal had a violent altercation in the clubhouse before a game against the Cardinals on July 9. Grandal allegedly slapped Anderson during the heated dispute, and both players had to be separated.

Prior to the altercation, Grandal had planned to leave the team’s lineup for the game against St. Louis, which upset Anderson and led to the confrontation.

‘Tim Anderson says, well f*** you, f*** that, if he wants to get out here now, I’ll play for his flight and bring them there myself,’ said Shane Riordan.

Grandal ultimately appeared as a pinch hitter in the game against the Cardinals but struck out in his only at-bat. He finished the game with a 0-for-5 record.

The White Sox currently hold a 45-68 record, placing them fourth in the AL Central above the Kansas City Royals. They have made several trades, parting ways with players like Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly, Kendall Graveman, Kenyan Middleton, Reynaldo Lopez, and Jake Burger.

Earlier this week, Kenyan Middleton, who joined the New York Yankees, stated that the White Sox’s clubhouse has a “no rules” culture.
