TikTok Stylist Comes to the Rescue, Transforming Bride with Viral Hair Mishap

  • Months leading up to her wedding, Catherine Batista lamented the state of her hair following a straightening treatment.
  • Her cry for help, shared through a viral TikTok video, caught the attention of Alfredo Lewis, a stylist and popular influencer.
  • In a fortunate turn of events, Batista is now set to travel to Las Vegas to have her hair restored, providing a happy ending to her hair horror story.

A bride-to-be from Boston, aged 33, shared an emotional plea for help on TikTok after a Japanese straightening treatment left her with significant hair damage just three weeks prior to her wedding.

However, a stroke of luck came her way when Alfredo Lewis, a stylist and popular TikTok influencer, spotted her viral video and arranged for her to travel to Las Vegas to fix the botched treatment.

Catherine Batista, who works as a manager of customer communications at Dell Technologies, revealed to Insider that she had undergone the straightening process at a reputable salon in Boston on August 13. This was a departure from her usual salon in Brazil, where she has received the treatment for years during family visits.

During the treatment, Batista noticed a strange sensation on her scalp but chose not to question the stylist’s expertise. However, when her hair was being brushed after washing, she witnessed a significant amount of hair falling out, leaving her with what she described as a “mullet effect.”

Although she retained her composure, Batista couldn’t help but feel shocked and distraught. She immediately called her fiancé and cried. The stylist did not apologize and instead attributed the hair loss to a previous product on Batista’s hair.

The proximity of her wedding only amplified the traumatic experience. Batista expressed how expensive and crucial it was to ensure everything went perfectly, making the hair damage an unexpected setback.

From dread to gratitude: Batista finds solace in the kindness of strangers

Not an avid TikTok user, Batista felt compelled to share her story and seek help. Her emotional video resonated with millions, and many tagged Alfredo Lewis, a Los Angeles-based hair influencer, in the comments.

Although Batista hadn’t known Lewis previously, she discovered that he had helped other individuals with severe hair damage in previous viral videos.

Unlike other hairdressers who simply react to hair disasters, Lewis prefers to take action. He got in touch with Batista through TikTok and later had a private call with her.

Subsequently, Lewis declared that he and two collaborators would meet Batista in Las Vegas on August 29 to address her concerns through a hair cut, color treatment, and hair extensions. The services provided by Lewis and his team, valued at approximately $3,000 to $4,000, are being offered for free.

Multiple brand partners, including K18 and Bellami, are also involved in the process. K18 is donating products, covering Batista’s travel and accommodation expenses, while Bellami is providing the extensions.

Despite initially dreading her wedding and experiencing a blow to her self-esteem, Batista’s hope has been restored by the kindness and generosity of strangers. Although Lewis couldn’t attend her wedding due to prior commitments, Batista plans to consult with a local stylist for her wedding-day look.

“The kindness shown by everyone, especially Alfredo, to a complete stranger has been incredibly humbling and uplifting. This is a story I will share with my children and grandchildren. It’s an experience I will never forget,” Batista expressed gratefully.
