TikTok Star Transforms Former Police Station into Her Ultimate Dream Home

  • An innovative TikToker embarked on the transformation of an old police station into her ultimate “dream home” in 2020.
  • Viewers enthusiastically supported this unconventional living idea, while others expressed reservations about its eerie nature.
  • The progress in renovating a few rooms has been slow, as she recognizes the immense magnitude of the project.

An enterprising Ohio woman took to TikTok to share her journey of converting an old police station into her “dream home.”

TikTok user @forsythe_em, known as Emily, initially documented the renovation in December 2020, showcasing a tour of the building that once housed the Liverpool Township Police Department in Liverpool, Ohio.

In one of the videos, Emily informed a commenter that she stumbled upon the property conveniently located “right down the block from where we live.” She also mentioned that her “#fixerupperhusband” was actively involved in the renovations.

In a December 2020 video, Emily guided viewers upstairs, pointing out the future master bedroom and an excellent view of the living room below. She highlighted the progress of demolishing and converting small men’s and women’s public restrooms into a single spacious bathroom.

Emily relied on online resources, such as YouTube videos, and the support of friends and family, despite having no prior remodeling experience.

Commenters expressed admiration for Emily’s unique project, even amidst some peculiar remnants from the previous occupants of the police station. Others shared their own desire for an unconventional home.

However, some individuals found the idea of living in a former police station eerie and expressed their apprehension.

After approximately a year, Emily shared video updates of a completed bedroom for her daughter, decorated with new wooden floors, a rocking chair, and a purple record player. In September 2022, she showcased the transformed living room, featuring freshly painted walls, wooden flooring, and a new brick fireplace area.

While there have been no recent updates, Emily acknowledged the magnitude of the project in her final video so far, expressing gratitude for the support and describing it as a significant undertaking.

TikTok is a popular platform for showcasing unique and unconventional living spaces. Some efforts, like the conversion of a Milwaukee mall into upscale apartments, received widespread appreciation. However, poorly executed projects like a live/work space in Northern California faced backlash from TikTok users.

No response from Emily was available at the time of Insider’s request for comment.
