Three Weeks Later: Rest of Family Found Dead After the Drowning of 4-Year-Old Girl

Tragedy struck three weeks ago in Allen, Texas when a 4-year-old girl drowned, and now her parents and brothers have been found dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide. Police believe that the girl’s drowning played a role in this tragic event. According to a police spokesperson, the bodies of Farman and Layla Sherwani, and their sons Mateen, 2, and Shaheen, 12, were discovered when a resident of the home was unable to enter and called for help. Relatives and police found the victims with gunshot wounds, according to NBC News and Fox 4.

A distraught grandmother, who lived nearby, was the one locked out of the family home. An imam from the mosque the family attended described them as a close-knit family, with several siblings living within walking distance of each other. The Islamic Association of Allen held a vigil for the family on Tuesday, expressing deep sadness over the loss of four family members. The imam mentioned that the family was already broken after the death of their daughter Lyian, who drowned. (A similar tragedy occurred on New York City’s Upper West Side.)
