Three ships to serve ferry route from Ireland to Spain by 2024

Brittany Ferries to Offer Winter Sailings from Rosslare to Bilbao and Santander

Brittany Ferries has announced that it will operate a year-round service, sailing twice weekly between Rosslare and Bilbao in Spain’s Basque Country. Each sailing will take approximately 30 hours. Special one-way fares for the summer of 2023 start at €451 for a car plus two people, including reserved seats.

Starting from November 7, 2023, the destination will switch to Santander, the capital of Cantabria, until March 25, 2024. This temporary change is necessary to allow for the necessary port infrastructure work in Bilbao.

The ferry link between Ireland and Spain has been in operation since November 2022, utilizing the “cruise ferry” Salamanca. The new ship has been well-received by Irish customers, with reservations up by 100% compared to the previous vessel, according to Brittany Ferries.

In 2024, the Salamanca will be joined by the modern sister ships Santoña and Galicia, which will share the sailings to Spain. Galicia, launched in late 2020, has a similar passenger capacity to Salamanca but features 421 cabins. Santoña, launched in 2022, has 341 cabins
