CD Projekt Red’s highly anticipated update for Cyberpunk 2077, version 2.02, is now live and brings a host of exciting changes to the game. Along with addressing a bug that caused players to die before reaching one of the main endings, there are numerous weapon tweaks, bug fixes, and even some unexpected nerfs that add a touch of randomness to the open world.
One notable change in patch 2.02 is the rebalancing of weapon stats based on player feedback. Additionally, the iconic Malorian Arms 3516 gun, earned through completing the Chippin’ In side job, has been buffed to deal more damage and have more manageable recoil. The update also includes various optimizations, performance improvements, crash fixes, and a safeguard against corrupted save files. Now, players will be alerted and prevented from saving any corrupted files.
Since the release of the 2.0 overhaul and the Phantom Liberty expansion, console players have encountered issues with exceeding save file limits, disrupting their gameplay. This update aims to rectify that problem. Of course, CD Projekt Red wouldn’t overlook the inclusion of some obscure details in the patch. For example, bullets will now accurately deal damage when shot through glass, and giving money to homeless individuals will no longer decrease your wanted level.
Another noteworthy fix in the update is the elimination of an exploit that allowed players to duplicate junk items. With each update, CDPR continues to improve the game, but they have confirmed that the majority of their development efforts will now shift to the next installment in The Witcher franchise. While a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is in the works, it will still be quite some time before players can embark on new adventures in Night City.
