The Cems alliance programme, exclusive to 33 member schools, offers an additional competitive qualification to the Masters in Management diploma to 1,300 students globally each year.

According to the FT 2023 Masters in Management Ranking, alumni of Cems – the Global Alliance in Management Education – significantly outperformed graduates from other business schools and those with a supplementary qualification from Qtem.

Cems graduates on average had higher earnings, saw greater salary progression, and were more likely to achieve their study goals.

Cems schools adhere to a quality assurance system and students fulfill requirements that include proficiency in a second language, completion of a common set of courses, and studying at two member institutions. Students also engage in a consultancy project and undertake an internship at one of the 73 corporate partners, with half securing job offers from these organizations upon completion.

While Cems schools have a higher proportion of faculty with doctorates compared to other participating institutions, they have a slightly lower percentage of female students and faculty, as well as a significantly lower share of international students and faculty.

Another formal partnership that offers a specialist qualification is the Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (Qtem) alliance. However, Qtem alumni earned less than the overall average of participating schools and Cems programme graduates.

Established in 2012, Qtem consists of 24 business schools and over a dozen corporate partners. It provides training to approximately 200 students annually at multiple locations, emphasizing the development of analytical and quantitative techniques along with practical experience.

Although primarily based in Europe, Qtem has partners in China, Japan, Canada, and Australia, and plans to expand in North and South America. The program incorporates a mandatory global business analytics challenge that includes online courses and international group work.

The FT does not include the outcomes of the specialist qualifications offered by Cems and Qtem in its overall Masters in Management ranking. Instead, the data is presented separately based on responses from alumni of the two programs across participating schools.
