This summer, instead of packing your bags and traveling cross country, why not save some money and opt for a “staycation”? WalletHub has recently published their latest rankings of the best cities in the US for staycations. Their report examined more than 180 of the nation’s largest cities using over 40 metrics in three main categories; recreation, food and entertainment, and rest and relaxation. The recreation category looked at factors including walking and biking scores, playgrounds, parks, hiking trails, and water parks per capita, while the food and entertainment category measured everything from the price of bowling to cocktails, plus the number of casinos, museums, festivals, zoos, and arcades per capita. Finally, the rest and relaxation category was based on factors such as weather, spas, salons, and public beaches. Honolulu came out on top, while California’s Chula Vista fell behind. Orlando headed the “Food and Entertainment” category, and Las Vegas and Tampa also featured in the top five. Meanwhile, Laredo, Texas, came in last place, while Oakland, California was at the base of the “Rest and Relaxation” category. Full results are available here.
