The Future of Fortnite Revealed by Eminem’s Groundbreaking Concert

Fortnite‘s most recent virtual concert went beyond Eminem’s performance in a destroyed city — it also hinted at future game experiences.

Players were transported through several portals, each with a different theme. First, an island filled with Lego characters engaging in battles and construction. Then, a futuristic race. Lastly, Eminem’s appearance, as players had to hit notes in time to “Lose Yourself,” resembling the game Guitar Hero.

A giant Eminem emerged, essentially a kaiju, performing “Godzilla” against a fiery, ruined city, even breathing fire into the air. Eminem’s virtual performance marked the fourth major in-game musical event after Marshmello, Travis Scott, and Ariana Grande. The event came to an end after this.

Considering Epic’s recent effort to expand Fortnite‘s creative mode, it’s no surprise that the event aimed to unveil upcoming experiences in the game beyond traditional battle royale. The objective appears to be making Fortnite more of a platform than just a game, similar to Minecraft or Roblox.

Chapter 5 is expected to launch on Sunday. If you missed The Big Bang, Epic says there will be two more showings at 5 PM and 11 PM ET on Saturday.
