The Distinct Differences Between SheraSeven and Andrew Tate: Debunking Social Media Misconceptions

The age-old phenomenon of women manipulating men for a more comfortable life or basic survival is deeply rooted in patriarchy. It stems from the inherent inequality between men and women in society. In a thought-provoking article, Kimberly McIntosh discusses the rising popularity of SheraSeven’s “dating doctrine” and highlights the significance of gendered power dynamics. Men possess more privilege, wealth, status, and agency, while women are constantly forced to adapt to or resist this oppressive system. Although the focus here is on heterosexual relationships, there is an even darker undercurrent that McIntosh overlooks.

I was struck by the article’s mention of SheraSeven often being referred to as “the female Andrew Tate”. While acknowledging that this description is somewhat meant in jest, it dangerously implies an equivalence between SheraSeven and Tate that simply doesn’t exist. Misandry (which was absent from SheraSeven’s views) and misogyny are not mirror images of each other. Violent misogyny is pervasive throughout society, with women enduring beatings, murders, and rapes with alarming regularity and little consequence. This is the disturbing context surrounding Tate’s infamous notoriety.

Some women navigate power imbalances in society by manipulating, exploiting, or even humiliating men, but this occurs within the framework of a gender hierarchy where men still hold preeminence. There can never be a female equivalent of Andrew Tate.

This article filled me with horror, particularly as a member of the generation that fought tirelessly for independence and equal rights, including equal pay. SheraSeven’s advice is a regression to the antiquated practices of playing games and using men solely for personal gain, ignoring any repercussions. It’s not a revolutionary concept. It’s morally wrong and will only label women as gold-diggers. This young individual and those who follow her seem to have lost touch with basic human decency.
