Stroud will be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans on opening day when they go up against the Baltimore Ravens. While Sunday’s announcement made it official, it was no surprise as the Texans had been utilizing Stroud heavily during the preseason, indicating that he would take on the starting role once the regular season kicked off. In the recent preseason finale against the Saints, Stroud played just two series but managed to showcase his skills by completing two of four passes for 16 yards and earning a perfect passer rating of 100.0. He even threw his first preseason touchdown to Nico Collins in the end zone.
Overall, Stroud had 11 completions out of 20 attempts, tallying 89 yards during the preseason and experiencing one interception.
