A recent parlay bet in the U.S. sportsbook market had one of the biggest payouts ever, and it all came down to a dramatic last-minute drive by Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud that secured a significant win for a bettor in Florida.
The bettor walked away with an astonishing $5.5 million after placing a $500,000, four-leg NFL parlay at the newly reopened Hard Rock sportsbook. The winning play came when Texans kicker Matt Ammendola hit a 38-yard field goal on the final play, giving Houston a 30-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The four legs of the parlay were centered around the Texans’ game and included various outcomes such as the Texans beating the Bengals, the total points scored to exceed 44.5, Texans running back Devin Singletary scoring a touchdown, and Singletary reaching over 51.5 rushing yards. All of the legs proved successful, resulting in the massive payout for the lucky bettor.

Additionally, it was revealed that a bettor in Florida placed two substantial bets totaling $1,546,000 on a one-win Kent State football team against Bowling Green, with both bets ultimately being unsuccessful.
Jon Chapper, senior director of communications for Hard Rock Digital, confirmed these bets but declined to disclose specific details about their origins or whether they were from the same player who won the $5.5 million parlay.
A tech executive in Fort Lauderdale, Shahrouz Ebadian, shared his perspective on the large bets, expressing his lack of surprise at the substantial amounts being wagered. He also playfully questioned the rationale behind some of the bettors’ picks, highlighting the unpredictable nature of betting in South Florida.
