A grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia, has returned 10 indictments on Monday evening as part of an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The details about the charges and the identity of the defendant(s) have not been disclosed yet.

The indictments were returned around 9 p.m. ET and are currently being processed by the clerk, which may take 1 to 3 hours.

The investigation, led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, was initiated following a phone call on January 2, 2021, in which Trump requested Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” to secure his victory in the state.

Trump’s attorneys had previously stated that they would challenge any indictments filed by Willis’ office.

Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing and accused Willis of pursuing the case out of political bias.

In a September 2022 statement regarding the Fulton County investigation, Trump referred to his conversation with Raffensperger as “an absolutely PERFECT phone call” and claimed that he had done “nothing wrong.” He has since reiterated these claims, including during an August 7 rally in New Hampshire.

The investigation expanded from its initial focus and investigated various efforts by Trump and his allies to undermine Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia. This included an alleged scheme to submit an alternate slate of electors committed to nominating Trump, attempts to pressure or intimidate election workers, and unauthorized access to election software and data in at least one county.

Over the course of about six months in 2022, the special purpose grand jury conducted numerous interviews with individuals such as Trump’s advisors Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, as well as Georgia officials like Raffensperger and Governor Brian Kemp. In January, the grand jury completed a report based on its investigation, which was then handed over to Willis. She ultimately decided to bring the charges before a regular grand jury.

This is an ongoing story that will be constantly updated.
