Teen driver arrested after hit-and-run incident claims pedestrian’s life in Arcadia

A tragic incident occurred in Arcadia, where a 28-year-old man lost his life while crossing the street. The driver responsible for the fatal accident was attempting to evade the police and was later apprehended by authorities. This unfortunate crash took place at 11:26 p.m. on Friday, as confirmed by Sgt. Adam Hernandez of the Arcadia Police Department.

The series of events unfolded when a patrol officer noticed a vehicle speeding near Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Avenue. The officer made an attempt to initiate a traffic stop at Huntington Drive and First Avenue, but things took a disastrous turn. “As officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle, the suspect suddenly accelerated through the red light and struck a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk,” explained Hernandez. “As officers stopped to provide aid to the victim, the suspect fled the scene of the accident.”

Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. At this time, the identity of the victim has not been released.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers managed to locate the vehicle involved in the vicinity. Moreover, they discovered the suspect hiding in shrubs nearby. The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from San Bernardino, was promptly apprehended.
