Michael Cera is reuniting with Sex Bob-Omb, this time in an animated form, for an exciting new anime series called “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” coming to Netflix. The show, consisting of eight episodes, is being produced by the talented animation studio Science Saru and will continue the beloved story of Scott Pilgrim, a bass-playing musician who battles it out with other bands and ex-lovers.
This new Netflix series follows the success of Edgar Wright’s 2010 action romantic comedy film “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” which was adapted from the graphic novel series created by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
The characters in “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” are brought to life by much of the original cast from the 2010 film. Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Ramona, Kieran Culkin voices Wallace Wells, Chris Evans embodies Lucas Lee, Jason Schwartzman portrays Gideon Graves, and many others reprise their roles, creating a sense of continuity and nostalgia for fans of the original.

According to director Edgar Wright, who expressed his excitement back in March, the cast of “Scott Pilgrim” formed a close-knit family during the making of the film, and their bonds have endured over the years. The entire cast has remained connected through a group email since 2010, and it was a joy for Wright to inform them of the continuation of the story. Hearing the familiar voices of the cast members returning to their beloved roles has been a heartfelt experience.
Bryan Lee O’Malley, the creator of the “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novel series, shared his excitement for the upcoming anime series, stating that it will be hilarious, emotional, visually stunning, and packed with mind-blowing action sequences. He also hinted at some surprises in store for the fans.
