Teaching His 15-Year-Old Son to Drive: Luke Bryan’s Experience with the Learning Permit Journey

Luke Bryan, the country star known for hits like “But I Got a Beer in My Hand,” recently shared his experience as a parent of a 15-year-old on Audacity’s “Kate & Company” podcast. He revealed that his son Bo, whom he shares with his wife Caroline, is currently going through the “learning permit nightmare” of driving. Luke jokingly commented that Bo is not a very good driver at the moment, so they are having to work with him extensively. He expressed his frustration with Bo’s overconfidence in his driving abilities, noting that just because he can operate a 4-wheeler or Polaris doesn’t mean he is proficient in driving a car. In Tennessee, teenagers can obtain a learner’s permit to drive at the age of 15.

Caroline also shared a video on Instagram, announcing that Bo had passed his driver’s permit test. In the video, Bo is seen in the driver’s seat, with his mom beside him and their other son Tate celebrating in the back seat. Caroline humorously expressed her fear and excitement about Bo starting to drive. Luke previously mentioned in an interview with People magazine that he enjoys having older sons because they become like his buddies. He emphasized the joy of watching his children grow and become independent individuals while still providing guidance and teaching them life’s values.

In addition to their biological sons, Luke and Caroline also adopted their nephew and nieces, Til, Jordan, and Kris, after Luke’s sister passed away in 2007. Overall, Luke Bryan’s parenting journey through his son’s driving experience showcases the challenges and joys of raising teenagers.
