Taylor Swift dominates 2023 MTV Video Music Award nominations

Taylor Swift leads the pack of nominees for the highly anticipated 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. MTV announced on Tuesday that Swift has the opportunity to win eight more “Moon Person” statues at this year’s ceremony. If she emerges victorious in all eight categories on September 12th, she would secure the second-highest number of wins in MTV VMA history. The current record holder is Beyoncé, who has amassed an impressive 28 wins overall, including her time with Destiny’s Child. Madonna follows closely behind with 20 wins, including a Vanguard award. This year, Swift has already won 14 MTV VMAs, according to a statement from the network.

Aside from her impressive nomination count, Taylor Swift has also been wowing crowds on her Eras Tour, where she is filling stadiums with her electrifying performances. Her nominations for this year’s VMAs include Song of the Year and Video of the Year for her chart-topping hit “Anti-Hero.” Swift is also up for the coveted Artist of the Year award, alongside heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, KAROL G, and Shakira. SZA is a close runner-up with six nominations for her hit track “Kill Bill,” including Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

The 2023 MTV VMAs have also earned a place in history for featuring the highest number of first-time nominees. MTV proudly shared that 35 rookies are in the running for various awards this year, including rising stars GloRilla, Yung Miami, and Saucy Santana. Fans can get involved by voting for their favorite nominees on the MTV website. (MTV falls under the ownership of Paramount Global, which is also the parent company of CBS.) Mark your calendars for September 12th as the Prudential Center in New Jersey prepares to host the much-anticipated awards ceremony at 8 p.m. ET.
