“Suspension of Maryland Cop for Compromising Video with Woman in Police Car Raises Concerns

A Maryland police officer has been suspended after a now-viral video captured him allegedly kissing a woman at a park near a school and then getting into the back of his police cruiser with her.

The Prince George’s County Police officer, named Francesco Marlett, was removed from active duty on Tuesday, shortly after the video came to the attention of authorities, according to the department.

“His police powers are currently suspended as the investigation continues,” the department stated.

The video posted to social media shows the uniformed officer hugging a woman next to the vehicle while children appear to be playing soccer in a nearby field. The woman then leads him to the backseat of the car, and they enter together.

The couple remained in the vehicle for approximately 40 minutes before leaving in separate vehicles, according to the man who reportedly filmed the video and shared it on a relative’s TikTok account, as reported by The Baltimore Banner.

“Something didn’t feel right,” said the man, identified only as Nelson O. He explained that he decided to record the officer because he seemed “suspicious” while standing around before the woman arrived.

“It was concerning because there were children present,” he added. “It just felt odd to see the person you’re supposed to call when there’s suspicious activity engaged in suspicious activity, you know.”

According to local reports, this is Marlett’s second suspension from the police force.

In 2016, he was charged with child abuse after allegedly knocking his girlfriend’s 3-year-old child unconscious for soiling the bed. However, charges in that incident were later dropped, and his record was expunged, as reported by WJLA.

Marlett was also reportedly suspended for a month in May following allegations of domestic violence.

HuffPost’s requests for comment went unanswered by the police department. Marlett’s wife, however, told WJLA that they do not have an open marriage.
