Suspected Criminal Facing Arraignment for Series of Burglaries Across the Region

In a series of burglaries throughout the Inland Empire and surrounding areas, one of the two suspects entered a plea of not guilty to over two dozen felony charges. The suspect, Lehman Frank Mitchell, 42, from Moreno Valley, was apprehended following an extensive investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Mitchell is facing charges including burglary, vandalism, grand theft, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Mitchell’s arraignment took place before Superior Court Judge Gary Polk, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for June 22 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The judge ordered that Mitchell be held on $220,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.

The co-defendant, 23-year-old Dache Kelly Jr. of Riverside, was arrested on June 9 and also pleaded not guilty to felony charges, including burglary, grand theft, and vandalism. Kelly is currently being held on $120,000 bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, and both defendants are expected to appear together at the upcoming hearing.

According to Sgt. Josh Hephner of the sheriff’s department, the suspects are accused of burglarizing a business in Temecula on April 9. The same Audi SUV used during this burglary was identified in connection with another break-in on May 22. Investigation of the SUV led law enforcement to a residence in Moreno Valley, which ultimately led to Kelly’s arrest.

Sgt. Hephner stated, “During a search of the vehicle, deputies found multiple items of evidentiary value from the recent burglaries.” Further investigation revealed Mitchell’s involvement, resulting in his arrest at a residence in Riverside. Sgt. Hephner also noted that both co-defendants were responsible for numerous other commercial burglaries in multiple Southern California counties.

Records from the court show that Mitchell has a history of prior convictions, primarily for burglary, and has served time in state prison. On the other hand, Kelly has no documented priors in Riverside County, although he does have convictions in a jurisdiction not listed in court documents. Additionally, Kelly has several pending felony cases awaiting adjudication in the local area.
