A 23-year-old man, Kole Scully Mims from Menifee, has been charged with six counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old for his alleged repeated sexual assaults on a girl in Lake Elsinore. The charges were filed on Tuesday following an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which began in July.
During his arraignment, Mims pleaded not guilty to the felony charges. The Superior Court Judge, Jeff Zimel, scheduled a felony settlement conference for Sept. 25 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. Additionally, Zimel ordered Mims to be held on $110,000 bail at the nearby Byrd Detention Center.
The investigation was initiated after deputies were alerted to the potential molestation of a youth named “M.A.” in Lake Elsinore. According to Sgt. Jeff Reese, the investigation revealed that Mims had assaulted the victim multiple times.
Court records indicate that the first alleged assault took place in early June 2022, with the most recent occurring at the end of November. The specific details regarding the offenses and Mims’ relationship with the girl have not been disclosed.
Mims was peacefully taken into custody in Riverside after an arrest warrant was served. There are no previous documented felony convictions against him in Riverside County.
