Shock Poll Shows RFK Jr’s Independent Run Could Draw More Support From Trump Than Biden in 2024

A recent poll reveals that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s potential independent run for the 2024 presidency could have a greater impact on Republicans than Democrats. Kennedy, a longshot Democratic candidate, is expected to make a major announcement on October 9, switching his run to an independent ticket.

Republicans have shown an attraction towards some of the issues Kennedy has raised during his campaign, such as his skepticism towards the COVID-19 vaccine and his plans to address the southern border crisis. The latest Quinnipiac University poll indicates that Republican voters have a more favorable view of Kennedy than Democratic voters.

According to the poll, 48 percent of Republicans view RFK Jr. favorably, while only 14 percent of Democrats share the same sentiment. Additionally, 18 percent of GOP voters have an unfavorable view of Kennedy, compared to 57 percent of Democrats who hold a negative opinion.

Interestingly, independent voters are divided, with 36 percent having a favorable view and 37 percent having an unfavorable view of Kennedy.

What was initially considered a longshot bid that could potentially detract votes from Biden’s primary election campaign is now shaping up to be a spoiler for Republicans in the general election. Some Republican voters even prefer Kennedy over other Republican candidates running against frontrunner Donald Trump.

It is worth noting that Kennedy’s favorability among Democratic voters has declined over the past few months. The Quinnipiac poll shows a 43-point drop in favorability among Democrats, indicating that an independent bid from Kennedy could be more detrimental to Trump than Biden in the upcoming election.

As an unfamiliar candidate to many voters, Kennedy’s likability is still being determined. According to the poll, a significant percentage of Republicans (33%), Democrats (28%), and independent voters (26%) feel that they do not know enough about RFK Jr. to form an opinion about him.
