Supermodel Naomi Campbell dazzles in exclusive PrettyLittleThing fast fashion collection unveiling

Naomi Campbell, the renowned supermodel, made a surprising appearance at the debut of her collaboration with fast-fashion brand PrettyLittleThing, a few days before the official start of New York Fashion Week’s Spring-Summer 2024 show calendar. Although the show started late, Campbell gracefully walked the runway in the collection’s final look, a strikingly sheer black halter neck maxi dress adorned with crystal detailing. The collection, available online immediately after the show, features a range of sheer pieces, showcasing the growing trend of see-through fabrics.

Chris Parnell, head of design at PrettyLittleThing, described the collaboration as their most significant to date. The runway show presented over 40 looks, designed to appeal to party-goers during the festive season. The collection featured tailored jumpsuits, blazers, flowy gowns, and body-con cocktail dresses. While predominantly black and white, pops of vibrant colors like hot pink, yellow, purple, and mauve added excitement. Metallics in chainmail, sequins, crystals, and beads brought an extra dose of glamour. The collection catered to all body shapes, with sizes ranging from 0 to 26.

Campbell’s influence was evident in the collection, as she had a say in its design process. She made it clear that she wouldn’t endorse a design she didn’t like, emphasizing her commitment to quality. Some designs were even revamped along the way to meet her standards. Campbell also showcased the work of emerging designers Victor Anate and Edvin Thompson within her collection, highlighting her dedication to promoting new talent and providing opportunities for the next generation of creatives.

In an interview, Campbell addressed criticism of her partnership with a fast-fashion brand. She explained that her intention was to shine a spotlight on emerging designers and help them on their career journey, thereby justifying her collaboration despite the backlash against trend-driven, low-cost clothing. The front row at the show boasted an eclectic mix of famous faces, including models Winnie Harlow, Alton Mason, Emily Ratajkowski, and Halima Aden, as well as actors, musicians, and creatives such as Tommy Dorfman, Teyana Taylor, Vashtie Kola, and Julia Fox, who wore a daring chain bikini under a black leather trench coat, stealing the spotlight.
