When questioned about his plans to seek additional funding from Congress to assist Ukraine, and whether he believed it would be approved, Mr. Biden responded, “Firstly, it is important for the Ukrainians themselves to address the military operations, so I will refrain from commenting on that matter at this moment. We have exerted every effort, both individually and as the United States, to ensure their preparedness and offer support… The progress will continue gradually, and we remain optimistic given the evolving circumstances.”
“In discussions with Ukraine, Ukrainians, President Zelensky, and our allies and partners, our objective is to commit to providing long-term security to deter any future aggression, even after the cessation of this war,” Mr. Biden explained.
He further stated that Ukraine is currently receiving support, and efforts are being made to bolster its military capabilities in the long run.
“I am confident that we will secure the necessary funding to support Ukraine for as long as it is required, and this support will be genuine. Despite some voices in Congress today questioning the continued support for Ukraine and its duration, I urge people to imagine the consequences if we were to withdraw our support,” Mr. Biden emphasized.
“Do you believe that Russia would halt its actions in Kyiv? Do you think that would be the extent of the situation? I highly doubt it, and I believe that a vast majority of my colleagues, including the critics, share the same viewpoint,” he added.
