Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have finally unveiled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League after its heavily criticized gameplay debut in February. They confirmed that the game still includes its unpopular live service elements.
Initially scheduled for a 2022 launch, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has faced two delays since its debut. Following the controversial gameplay reveal, Warner Bros. postponed the release to February 2, 2024, with the aim of delivering the best quality experience to players.
After an eight-month silence, Suicide Squad has returned with a new Insider video series. The first video showcases 20 minutes of gameplay, highlighting traversal mechanics, story elements, and a brief look at the game’s version of Metropolis.
The game’s controversial live-service-style monetization, which includes a cosmetics-focused battle pass, was not mentioned in this reveal. However, Warner Bros’ Standard and Deluxe Edition breakdown confirms that these elements are still present despite fan hopes for their removal during the game’s delay.
The Deluxe Edition of Suicide Squad priced at £99.99/$99.99 USD will include “one premium battle pass token.” In contrast, the Standard Edition priced at £69.99/$69.99 provides access to the game’s free seasonal battle pass tiers and post-launch updates for all versions.
For those curious about the game’s previously confirmed microtransactions, the Premium Edition includes various cosmetics, indicating support for different outfits, outfit color swatches, weapon skins, and weapon dolls. It remains to be seen if Warner Bros. will sell premium items in all these categories upon release.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, playable solo or cooperatively with up to four players and with cross-platform and cross-progression support, is set to launch for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 2, 2024.
