Oct. 16 (UPI) — Get ready for an exciting new season of The Crown. Netflix released a sneak peek of Season 6, showcasing stunning photos of Elizabeth Debicki and Imelda Staunton as Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II respectively.

The Crown is a critically acclaimed series that delves into the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The highly anticipated sixth and final season will be divided into two parts and is set to premiere in December.

In Season 6, we witness the aftermath of Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki) and Prince Charles’ (played by Dominic West) divorce. As they spend their first summer apart, the couple embarks on contrasting holidays with their children, Prince William (Rufus Kampa) and Prince Harry (Fflyn Edwards), as reported by Netflix’s Tudum.

Executive producer Suzanne Mackie shared some insights about the upcoming season, saying, “We’re very much in the beginning of the Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed story. From the moment she steps onto that boat and you catch a glimpse of those iconic images of her on the yacht, you’re immediately transported back to the whirlwind of the press speculation surrounding their romance.”

The intriguing photos showcase Diana with Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla), Charles with William and Harry, as well as the formidable presence of Queen Elizabeth II (played by Imelda Staunton).

Season 6 will explore the complex friendship and romance between Diana and Dodi Fayed, who tragically lost their lives in a car crash in Paris in August 1997 while being pursued by paparazzi.

Joining the esteemed cast of Season 6 are Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowls, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al-Fayed, and Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair.

Last week, Netflix released a teaser for The Crown Season 6, building up anticipation for the premiere. Part 1 will be available on November 16, with Part 2 following on December 14.
