Study Finds Disturbing Health Trend Linked to Increased On-the-Job AI Usage

Working closely with artificial intelligence has been found to have negative impacts on the mental and physical health of employees, including loneliness, binge drinking, and insomnia, according to a study by the University of Georgia. While AI offers benefits, it also poses potential dangers to employees as they become socially isolated. Researchers conducted experiments in the US, Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia, finding increased AI use led to greater binge drinking, sleeplessness, and loneliness. Participants were also more likely to help human colleagues, believed to be a result of a desire for social interactions. The study recommends companies limit AI use and implement mindfulness programs to lessen negative impact.
