DJ LeMahieu, on Friday afternoon, appeared to be in a state of perplexity, desperately searching for answers but coming up empty-handed.
After a three-day hiatus in an attempt to fix his swing, LeMahieu returned to the Yankees lineup on Thursday night, only to go 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. This was an incredibly poor performance for LeMahieu, whose career batting average is just below .300.
“I haven’t hit this poorly in a while,” he lamented. “I don’t think I ever have. It’s unfortunate timing for our team.”
Indeed, with Aaron Judge sidelined, the Yankees need every player to be performing at their best. Unfortunately, the middle of the lineup, including LeMahieu, is struggling night after night.
