A 6-year-old boy in New York had a terrifying encounter when a man pointed a gun at his head after he mistakenly dropped off a Halloween goody bag at the wrong house, according to police.
Michael Yifan Wen, a 43-year-old resident of Manhasset, was arrested and charged with menacing and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, as stated in a statement released by Nassau County police.
The incident occurred on Saturday when a mother drove her daughter, two sons, and a nephew to a home on Rockcrest Road. The daughter, aged 10, and the 6-year-old son rang the doorbell and left the goody bag on the porch for the girl’s friend. However, when they returned to the car, the girl expressed doubt about the accuracy of the address. Consequently, they drove back to the house, and the boy went up to the porch to retrieve the bag filled with candy. It was at this moment that the man opened the door and threatened the child with a handgun, as reported by the police.
Subsequently, it was determined that the house was indeed the wrong address.
Michael Wen’s attorney, Roger Blank, emphasized that his client is presumed innocent and urged the public not to rush to judgment until all the facts are revealed.
“These are merely allegations,” Blank stated.
This year has witnessed several instances of deadly consequences resulting from individuals mistakenly entering the wrong homes.
