According to a Reddit user who shared their experience on the Pokemon Go subreddit, they had a frightening encounter while playing the game in a church parking lot. The player was participating in a Gengar Raid when an unknown individual approached them.
The Reddit user described the encounter, stating, “He said that he didn’t recognize me and claimed to be armed. He threatened to shoot me if I didn’t leave the premises.” The player clarified that the individual was neither a police officer nor a security guard.

The player recounted their response, saying, “I explained that I was simply playing a game on my phone, but he didn’t care. To avoid escalating the situation, I left the parking lot.” Fortunately, the authorities have intervened and apprehended the individual involved in the incident.
Another Pokemon Go player shared their experience in a church parking lot. They recalled, “As I was battling at the gym, a police officer pulled up next to me and asked if I needed assistance. I explained that I was playing Pokemon Go and had pulled over to avoid distracted driving. The officer responded, ‘As long as you’re not broken down, go catch ’em all.'”
