A shocking incident has come to light at a New Jersey elementary school, where a janitor stands accused of engaging in sexual acts with school objects and contaminating food and cafeteria utensils with bodily fluids and bleach. Authorities have identified the suspect as Giovanni Impellizzeri, a 25-year-old custodian at the Elizabeth Moore School.
The allegations against Impellizzeri involve contaminating food and kitchen utensils in the school cafeteria with saliva, urine, and feces. The janitor also allegedly sprayed bleach into a container of food, which was then served to unsuspecting children. An affidavit of probable cause states that this was done with the intention of causing harm to the students.
This distressing news has left parents deeply troubled and concerned for the safety of their children. Bianca Pierce, a parent of one of the students, expressed her shock and devastation, stating in an interview with NBC Philadelphia, “I covered my mouth and started crying. I had no words. I mean, what can you say to a situation where somebody was doing those disgusting things in the school where your child’s supposed to be safe? I felt like I was stabbed in the heart.”
The incident came to light when the authorities at the school received several anonymous tips about lewd social media posts made by Impellizzeri. These tips prompted them to contact the New Jersey State Police, who then launched an investigation. In a news release, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae stated that multiple screenshots and videos were obtained from a social media account, which appeared to show Impellizzeri engaged in sexual acts with inanimate objects within the school premises.
The nature of the posts shared by Impellizzeri raised significant concerns about the welfare of the students. The criminal complaint revealed that he had also contaminated additional items in another area of the school using his bodily fluids. It has been established that these acts were committed during Impellizzeri’s employment at the school, where he has worked as a custodian since September 2019. Impellizzeri, a resident of Vineland, was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault, tampering with food products, endangering the welfare of a child, and attempted misconduct. Additional charges of official misconduct were filed against him on Thursday. He is currently being held in the Cumberland County Jail.
As a precautionary measure, authorities are collecting samples of bodily fluids to determine whether there is a health risk for those who consumed food from the school’s cafeteria. Meanwhile, the Upper Deerfield School District has placed Impellizzeri on administrative leave.
