Started a confrontation with the United States

Twitter CEO Elon Musk ignited a backlash from numerous users when he announced a temporary cap on the number of posts that can be read in a day. Musk cited the need to tackle data scraping and system manipulation as the reason behind implementing post-reading limits. Initially, verified accounts could read up to 6,000 posts per day, unverified accounts 600, and new unverified accounts 300. These numbers were later updated to “10K, 1K, and 0.5K” respectively. This move by Musk prompted Fox News’ Joey Jones to argue that he was “picking a fight with America” and referred to it as a “shakedown.” Jones believed that Musk made the announcement to incentivize people to sign up for Twitter Blue. Another co-host, Raymond Arroyo, expressed his disappointment, calling the limitations “heartbreaking.” He also criticized Musk, saying that instead of being the protector of free speech as he had promised, he was exerting excessive control over speech and limiting interaction on the platform. Arroyo believed that this move was detrimental to Musk’s brand and deeply affected long-time Twitter users. Musk responded to user complaints with sarcasm, jokingly suggesting that users should step away from their phones and engage with friends and family. He even retweeted a parody account that humorously attributed the limitations to users’ addiction and the need to go outside. Dr. Nicole Saphier, another co-host, proposed that Musk’s decision might be an effort to address the mental health crisis by limiting the amount of time people spend on social media. She pointed out that excessive phone-checking and lack of real-life interaction contribute to mental health issues, particularly among young people who are constantly glued to their devices.
