One-day permits will let bars start serving at 8 a.m. Sunday for Buffalo Bills game in London
ALBANY — By order of Gov. Kathy Hochul, the State Liquor Authority has extended the deadline and will do quick approval of one-day permits allowing bars to open at 8 a.m. Sunday for the Buffalo Bills game in London that starts at 9:30 a.m. The Bills are playing the Jacksonville Jaguars at the 62,000-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Regular Sunday alcohol service is not allowed until 10 a.m.
The governor announced Wednesday on social media that she had directed the SLA to expedite the permits. Applications for such single-use permits normally must be filed 15 days in advance. A spokesman for the SLA said Thursday afternoon that the deadline for applying is 3 p.m. Friday, and any qualified applicant that files on time accurately and completely should expect approval. The
