Aug. 11 (UPI) — Wynonna Judd has announced the upcoming release of a star-studded tribute album dedicated to honoring The Judds, the iconic country music duo formed by Wynonna Judd and her late mother, Naomi Judd.
The album, titled A Tribute to The Judds, commemorates the 40th anniversary of The Judds, which was founded by Wynonna and Naomi in 1983. Naomi Judd passed away at the age of 76 in April 2022.
The compilation album will consist of 14 tracks and will showcase the talents of Wynonna Judd, Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Trisha Yearwood, Ashley McBryde, Gabby Barrett, LeAnn Rimes, and other renowned artists in the industry.
Notable performances on the album include collaborations between McEntire, Pearce, Barrett, and Jennifer Nettles on “Girls Night Out,” as well as Gwen Stefani joining Shelton for “Love is Alive.” Parton and Wilson will perform a rendition of “Mama He’s Crazy.”
In a statement, Wynonna Judd expressed her excitement over the project, stating, “To have all of these artists, most of whom are my friends, come together and lend their voices and artistry to reinterpret these songs is truly special. These songs are timeless, and I can’t wait for them to resonate with future generations.”
Brent Maher, The Judds’ producer, shared his thoughts on the album, saying, “To all of you who listen to this music, I wish you could have been with us in the studio when we recorded these songs. There was joy, passion, and poignant moments in re-recording these Judd songs that are impossible to describe. I hope you enjoy this record as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
A Tribute to The Judds is available for fans to pre-save ahead of its official release.
Prior to this tribute album, Wynonna Judd paid homage to her mother Naomi Judd in the televised special Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration, which aired on CMT in May 2022.
