The Korean Netflix drama “Squid Game” became a global sensation due to its social commentary on capitalism and its visceral depiction of competitors risking their lives by playing children’s games.
The show’s popularity led to an American reality show spin-off called “Squid Game: The Challenge”, where 456 players compete in games inspired by the original series, but without the life-threatening stakes, for a chance to win $4.56 million.
The release of the reality show prompted speculation among fans about the release date for season 2 of the original “Squid Game” series.

When will “Squid Game” season 2 be released?
Netflix announced in June 2022 that a second season of “Squid Game” is forthcoming.
However, an official release date has not been confirmed, and production began in late 2023. Therefore, it is unlikely that the season will be released before 2024 or later.
Who will be in the “Squid Game” season 2 cast?
While many cast members will not return for season 2, the main character Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), aka Player 456, will reprise his role. The Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun), Hwang Jun Ho (played by Wi Ha-joon), and Gong Yoo will also make a comeback.
Additionally, there will be a host of new cast members joining the show, as announced by Netflix in June 2022.
