MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced on Saturday that the effects of the southwest monsoon, known as habagat, are expected to intensify in the coming days.
In their weather report, Pagasa stated that the upcoming rainfall would mainly be attributed to the southwest monsoon as there are no observed weather disturbances within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
Pagasa weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said, “[In the next few days], we expect the effect of the south wind to become stronger and continue to impact our country.”
Pagasa also mentioned that areas in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao would experience rain on Saturday due to the southwest monsoon, while the majority of Luzon, including Metro Manila, can expect cloudy weather with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon to evening.
