Under President Biden’s administration, tensions between North and South Korea have risen due to increased military exercises by the U.S. and South Korea, as well as weapon testing by North Korea. The hermit kingdom has also aligned itself with Russia and China in adopting an aggressively anti-American stance.
President Yoon emphasized the need for the Unification Ministry to fulfill its responsibilities in line with the constitutional principles, which entail a unification based on a liberal democratic order.
The goal of unification, as per President Yoon, is to improve the lives of all people in South and North Korea and ensure they are treated better as human beings.
