Solicitor in retirement alleges life-threatening situation as private hospital cancels operation amid complaint surrounding nurse’s transgender identity

A Former Solicitor Alleges Discrimination by Hospital After Complaining About Transgender Nurse

A retired solicitor is taking legal action against a private hospital after her surgery was cancelled due to a dispute over the care provided by a transgender nurse.

Teresa Steele, the former solicitor, requested that only biological women be involved in her post-operative care after a trans nurse entered her examination room without an invitation. The Princess Grace Hospital in central London, owned by private provider HCA, initially accused Steele of discrimination but later apologized for breaching her privacy and dignity.

Steele claims that the stress from this incident led to the development of an abscess and argues that the cancellation of her surgery endangered her life. She alleges discrimination and direct harm as a result of the hospital’s decision.
