Jeff Probst Previews “Survivor” Season 45: Longer Episodes and Creative Challenges

Probst further revealed that the longer runtime allows for more creative challenges on the show. He explained, “We’re just able to have more fun. We’re able to do more things, spend more time with the players, do more elaborate advantages and twists, and keep the game going.”
Despite being on air for 23 years, “Survivor” still receives tens of thousands of applications each year. Probst shared his perspective on what makes a great player in the game, highlighting “emotional intelligence” and “social skills” as key attributes.
He described the experience of playing “Survivor” as a game of detective work, saying, “What’s fun about ‘Survivor’ is you are also a detective. You are playing this game of who knows what, and what do they know about me, and how can I get around here?”
Reflecting on the show’s evolution, Probst compared the first season to “‘Lord of the Flies’ without the death.” He emphasized how “Survivor” has transformed into a human experience wrapped in a complex game, where players must utilize their emotional intelligence, social skills, and strategic thinking.
