Sky Bet survey reveals Everton fans least optimistic for new Premier League season due to possibility of relegation fight under Sean Dyche’s management.

HTML Tags REVEALED: New Survey Shows Everton Fans are the Most Pessimistic Heading into Premier League Season

In a striking revelation, a recent survey has shown that Everton fans have emerged as the Premier League’s least optimistic supporters going into the upcoming season. With only 8% of fans believing that the club is well-managed behind the scenes, and a staggering 15% predicting relegation, concerns are mounting within the fanbase.

Last season, Everton narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the campaign, a situation they had found themselves in before under the guidance of former manager Frank Lampard. However, it seems that the fans are not confident that this trend will change in the 2023-24 season. The results from a Sky Bet survey, which involved more than 1,400 Premier League fans, reveal that the average Everton supporter rates their level of optimism at a meager 3.3 out of 10. This places them significantly lower than other pessimistic fanbases, such as Tottenham and Wolves, who both have ratings of 5.3.

In stark contrast to Everton, fans of Manchester City, fresh off a treble-winning season, are unsurprisingly the most optimistic, with a rating of 9.1. Brighton, who are set to embark on their first-ever European campaign, sit in second place with a rating of 8.0.

Despite the team’s struggles, a reassuring 76% of Everton fans still believe that manager Sean Dyche is the right person to lead the club forward. However, opinions on Dyche’s managerial abilities remain mixed, as he is only rated as the 17th-best manager in the league. Since taking over from Lampard in January, Dyche has won six out of his 18 matches in charge.

While Dyche enjoys support from the majority of fans, the same cannot be said for the club’s board. Only 8% of supporters believe that Everton is well-run, following a year of multiple protests at Goodison Park. The recent departure of several board members, including chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale, finance director Grant Ingles, and non-executive member Graeme Sharp, has sparked further disillusionment among fans. Notably, chairman Bill Kenwright has managed to retain his position after discussions with owner Farhad Moshiri, despite calls for his departure. This decision has not been well-received by the fanbase, as they fear it indicates a lack of improvement in the decision-making process at the board level.

Everton’s season kicks off on August 12 with a home game against Fulham. Interestingly, they will not face any of the traditional “Big Six” teams until they encounter Arsenal at Goodison Park on September 16.
