Reports suggest that an unfortunate shooting incident took place at Cook’s Corner, a renowned biker bar in Orange County. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the establishment located on Santiago Canyon Road. Although Orange County sheriff’s officials had limited information to share, they confirmed via social media that multiple victims were affected by gunfire.
Footage from the scene clearly showed two bodies covered with sheets outside the bar. According to an unnamed law enforcement source cited by KCAL9, five individuals, including the gunman, lost their lives in the incident. Additionally, six others sustained injuries and were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
KCAL9 further reported that the alleged shooter, a retired Southern California law enforcement officer, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife at the bar. The wife tragically became one of the victims. The suspect himself was believed to have been shot by a sheriff’s deputy and was among those who did not survive. However, these details have yet to be officially confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
Responding swiftly to the scene, sheriff’s deputies and numerous paramedics promptly arrived, resulting in the closure of all surrounding streets.
Cook’s Corner is widely known as a popular bar and hangout spot for bikers. Although the establishment is believed to have originated in the late 1800s, it only began operating as a restaurant in the 1920s. With a reputation as one of Southern California’s most famous biker bars, the bar/restaurant was hosting an $8 spaghetti dinner special and a live band performance that began at 6:30 p.m. Sadly, the sound of gunshots disrupted the evening approximately an hour later.
