Shohei Ohtani exited the LA Angels’ game against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday after hitting his 44th home run of the season.
Ohtani had a successful start against the Reds, striking out two batters in the top of the first inning and securing the top spot in home run standings with another impressive hit.
However, the 29-year-old was forced to leave the game due to an injury issue during the second inning. An Angels trainer accompanied him off the field.
The Angels later revealed that Ohtani experienced arm fatigue early on in the game, leaving his ability to continue uncertain.
Although he remained eligible to hit in the game, the first of a doubleheader against the Reds, Ohtani left with the trainers due to his latest problem.
With Ohtani out, the Angels turned to LHP Tyler Anderson in an attempt to maintain their 2-0 lead at the time. Andrew Velazquez later extended their advantage to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
