Shockingly Grisly: Wisconsin Woman Receives Sentencing for Brutal Murder, Dismemberment, and Scattering of Ex-Boyfriend’s Body Parts

A Wisconsin woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing and dismembering her former boyfriend, scattering his body parts at various locations. The sentencing took place on Tuesday in Brown County.

Taylor Schabusiness, 25, was convicted by a jury in July of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse in the February 2022 killing of Shad Thyrion, 24.

Schabusiness had initially pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, but the jury determined that she was not mentally ill when she committed the crime.

According to prosecutors, Thyrion and Schabusiness had smoked methamphetamine together in the basement of Thyrion’s mother’s Green Bay home before Schabusiness strangled, decapitated, and dismembered him. She then scattered his body parts throughout the house and in a vehicle.

Schabusiness was arrested on February 23, 2022, after Thyrion’s mother found her son’s head in a bucket in the basement and called the police.

Brown County Circuit Judge Thomas Walsh described the offense as being of extreme gravity and shocking to the community before delivering the life sentence, as reported by the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

During the court proceedings, Schabusiness’s defense attorney, Christopher Froelich, said she would address the court herself. However, when given the opportunity, Schabusiness simply replied, “No, there isn’t,” according to CBS affiliate WFRV-TV. Froelich claimed that Schabusiness, at the age of 25, could still be rehabilitated and should not be considered a monster.

The defense presented several witnesses, including Schabusiness’s grandmother, who is caring for her 2-year-old child, as well as her father, who is currently serving a prison sentence. They also called a pharmacology expert, as reported by WFRV-TV.

Judge Walsh reminded Schabusiness that while she cannot be held responsible for her upbringing, she must take responsibility for her future, according to the station.

In a previous incident, Schabusiness had attacked her former attorney during a hearing, leading to her being subdued by a deputy in the courtroom.
