Shift from WFH to WFG: Embrace the New Way of Working

According to NPR, working from home is no longer the trend. As they put it on their show Morning Edition, “working from home is so 2020.” So, what’s the next big thing? Well, as the Wall Street Journal highlighted last month, the hottest new office is actually the gym. In fact, a lawyer from Virginia has been working from his local rock climbing gym two days a week and he claims it has improved his work. Not only does he get more exercise and achieve better work-life balance, but he also feels that his brain is mentally primed with creative energy after a climbing session, making him more productive in his work immediately afterwards.

The marketing director at the rock climbing gym agrees and suggests that getting the blood pumping can boost productivity. The Journal also notes that gyms are now offering more options for remote workers, such as desks, electrical outlets, and even separate office areas. Some gyms even provide entire floors for co-working clients to use, separate from the gym floor, for an additional fee. One business owner started with a desk at her local LifeTime gym and eventually expanded her architectural firm to five employees, renting an office space in the gym with several desks.
