Share your tips for budget-friendly travel in the Nordic countries and stand a chance to win a holiday voucher

According to a 2021 Eurostat study on consumer goods and services prices, Denmark ranked as the most expensive country in Europe. Sweden was fourth and Finland came in fifth. In Norway and Iceland, a couple of pints can easily cost you £20 or more. This high cost of living might discourage travelers from considering a holiday in the Nordic countries. However, there are budget-friendly options available. The Scandinavia travel guide, Routes North, suggests that even with a limited budget, you can still experience the beauty of a Norwegian fjord, stay in a historic building in the center of Copenhagen, or enjoy a ski resort in Finnish Lapland.

We’d love to hear your budget tips for Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. Share your insights and recommendations with us, and if you have any relevant photos, feel free to send them in. Please note that while photos are appreciated, it’s your words that will be the main focus of judgment for the competition.

To participate, keep your tip to about 100 words. The best tip of the week, selected by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet, will win a £200 voucher to stay at a Coolstays property. Coolstays offers over 3,000 properties worldwide. The winning tips will also be featured in the Guardian Travel section and website.

Please note that only UK residents are eligible to enter this competition due to legal reasons. The competition closes on June 26 at 9am.
