Shaqir, his other son, is a redshirt junior with the Texas Southern Tigers.
Now, Shaq’s youngest child Me’Arah, at the age of 17 and standing at 6-foot-3, is making a name for herself.
Me’Arah is a top-40 recruit in the Class of 2024, according to ESPN.
She has received offers from various well-known college programs, such as Tennessee, Baylor, Kentucky, Florida, Arizona State, Cal, Georgia Tech, and LSU.
While Shaq’s alma mater, LSU, is an option, he is not pressuring her to choose it.
LSU’s coach, Kim Mulkey, offered Me’Arah a spot on the team in April after leading the Tigers to their first-ever national championship.
The team’s top players, including Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson, have reached out to Me’Arah on social media to support Mulkey’s recruiting efforts.
However, Shaq believes in giving his children the freedom to make their own decisions.
He recalled receiving numerous college offers himself but appreciates that his father allowed him to choose independently.
Shaq’s own path led him to LSU, where he became an All-American player and received the 1991 AP Player of the Year award.

While he would love for her to play for LSU, he wants her to choose a location and program where she will be appreciated and able to showcase her talent.
Shaq feels that interfering with her decision would disrupt the system that worked for him.
