Shannen Doherty reveals heartbreaking news: cancer spreads to her bones and her plea for survival

Shannen Doherty remains hopeful after revealing that her stage 4 breast cancer has spread to her bones.

In an interview published by People Magazine, the 52-year-old actress expressed her determination to continue acting, raise cancer research awareness, and reflect on the big picture of her life.

Doherty asserted, “I don’t want to die.”

The “Charmed” and “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor stated her intention to enter clinical trials for new cancer treatments. What drives her now is the desire “to prove” that she can work despite her cancer diagnosis.

“I’m not done with living,” Doherty emphasized. “I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not — I’m not done.”

Doherty has been dealing with her cancer diagnosis for nearly a decade. Initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she revealed that it was her dog Bowie who first noticed the abnormality. By 2016, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, leading her to undergo eight rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.

She entered remission in 2017, but in 2020 she announced its return, now classified as stage 4. She further shared that the cancer had spread to her brain in an emotional video posted in June.

Commenting on the current treatment of cancer patients, Doherty expressed frustration, highlighting that people often underestimate their capability to work and move forward.

However, she emphasized that she has a lot to look forward to and is relying on her faith more than ever. “My greatest memory is yet to come,” she shared. “My faith is my mantra.”
