Aug. 25 (UPI) — Selena Gomez has made a comeback in the music world.
The 31-year-old singer and actress surprised fans by dropping a new single and music video titled “Single Soon” on Friday.
The music video for “Single Soon” can be watched here. It begins with a voice message from Gomez’s 10-year-old sister, Grace Teefey, who lovingly advises her sister to not worry about boyfriends.
In the video, Gomez breaks up with her partner using a sticky note, much like Jack Berger did during his breakup with Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City.” She then goes on to enjoy a night out dancing with a group of friends.
Gomez had announced the release of “Single Soon” the previous week.
“Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m still working on SG3, I decided to release a fun little song that I wrote a while back, which is perfect for the end of summer,” she shared on Instagram.
“Single Soon” marks Gomez’s first release of 2023 and her first since “My Mind & Me” in November 2022, which was featured in her Apple TV+ documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.”
Gomez’s most recent album, “Rare,” was released in January 2020.
In an appearance on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” in December 2022, Gomez teased her upcoming music, expressing her desire to move away from her usual sad-girl songs and have some fun, predicting that people will enjoy it.
