Security Guard at Taylor Swift Concert Fired After Going Viral

  • A security guard working at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour was fired for requesting fans to take photos of him.
  • Calvin Denker, in a TikTok video, disclosed that he lost his job due to the rules against taking photos with performers.
  • Despite being fired, Denker expressed no resentment as he considered it an opportunity to work at an incredible concert.

A security guard who gained viral fame on TikTok in June for singing along to Taylor Swift during one of her Eras Tour concerts, claimed that he was fired after requesting fans to take photos of him with the singer.

Calvin Denker, employed as front of stage security at Swift’s Minneapolis tour dates, revealed in a TikTok video that his employment at Best Crowd Management was terminated when his bosses discovered his plan through a TikTok video he had posted in June.

Footage of Denker singing along to Swift’s “Cruel Summer” at the U.S. Bank Stadium went viral on TikTok, garnering 2.9 million views.

Following the viral clip, Denker identified himself in another TikTok video, which received 1.6 million views. In the video, Denker disclosed that he had distributed notes to a few concertgoers in the front row, asking them to text him photos of himself and Swift when she appeared behind him.

However, Denker later stated in an update on TikTok that he was fired because his actions violated the company’s rules that prohibit staff from taking photos with performers.

Denker contested the reason for his termination, emphasizing that every photo of him with Swift was taken from behind the barricade like any other fan photo, and he never used his own phone.

Despite the incident, Denker urged his followers not to direct any hatred towards his former employer, expressing no animosity as he considered it an opportunity to work at an amazing concert.

No comments have been received from representatives of Best Crowd Management at this time.

In a TikTok video from June, Denker shared that he applied for the job after speaking to security staff who worked at Swift’s 2018 Reputation Tour. He aimed to attend the expensive Eras Tour without having to pay for tickets.

Denker explained that he was not allowed to turn his back to the crowd and watch Taylor perform, leading to his unique plan of documenting his time at the concert.

In his video, Denker stated, “After night one, I realized how close Taylor Swift was getting to me. So, I handed down these little pieces of paper that said I wasn’t allowed to have my phone out, but if Taylor Swift comes right behind me, please take a photo of me and text it to my number.”

Denker clarified that he did not pass a note to the person who posted the viral TikTok video of him singing passionately, as she was actually a few rows back. However, he expressed his happiness at seeing himself go viral.
