Sept. 1 (UPI) — Netflix is set to release three new episodes of the captivating docu-series, titled “Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal” on September 20th.

The highly anticipated second season will be directed and produced by Michael Gasparro and Julia Willoughby Nason, who also led the first season.

“Season 2 delves deeper into the shocking murder story of Alex Murdaugh, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal killings of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul,” according to the official synopsis.

The latest episodes will provide further insight into the events that took place on the night of June 7, 2021, which had the world captivated as the verdict was announced after years of anticipation by the community in the Lowcountry.

In addition to the murder charges, Alex, a wealthy South Carolina attorney, is also facing indictments for bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.

Paul, who was facing charges in a separate 2019 boating accident that resulted in a fatality, tragically lost his life.
