Scott Boras Identifies Blake Snell and Cody Bellinger as Potential Giants Targets – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

The mission of the Giants this offseason is to add talent, and Agent Scott Boras believes that he represents numerous intriguing free-agent options, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Boras confirmed to the San Francisco Chronicle that he sees five of his clients as excellent fits for San Francisco. The list includes starting pitchers Sean Manaea, Jordan Montgomery, and Blake Snell, along with outfielder Cody Bellinger and third baseman Matt Chapman.

“The whole group,” Boras told Shea.

In the 2024 starting rotation, the Giants have locked in three spots: ace Logan Webb, veteran Alex Cobb, and young prospect Kyle Harrison.

Cobb, who had a 3.87 ERA in 28 starts last season, is expected to be out due to hip surgery until at least April. Youngsters Tristan Beck and Keaton Winn, as well as veteran Anthony DeSclafani, are also in contention.

With a Cy Young Award finalist and a World Series winner among the potential additions, there seems to be room for Zaidi to make a significant impact in the rotation.

Snell, a Cy Young finalist in the National League, displayed his dominance with a 2.25 ERA and 5.8 hits allowed per nine innings for the San Diego Padres. The Giants failed to score a single run against Snell in three starts this past season.

Montgomery had a solid 3.20 ERA in 32 starts this season, even winning a World Series title. As for Manaea, the 31-year-old is looking for new opportunities after struggling early on last season, but bouncing back to find his role in the bullpen and rotation.

In addition, the Giants’ lineup, which ranked poorly in runs scored last season, could also use some improvement.

Bellinger, the 2019 NL MVP, regained his form last season with the Chicago Cubs, hitting .307/.356/.525 with 26 homers. Chapman, meanwhile, continues to shine as one of the best third basemen in the league and has just entered free agency.

Boras is known for hyping up his clients and driving prices up, and with the Giants looking to strengthen for new manager Bob Melvin, they have plenty of options to consider for the upcoming season if they are willing to make the investment.
